Quintet of New Customers for Greenstar
Monday 20 July 2009
Recycling-led waste management specialist Greenstar UK has secured five new customer accounts, including Pets at Home and Esporta Health Clubs, worth over £2 million.
The new customers have all signed up for Greenstar’s recycling-led waste management service that is designed to extract more recyclables from their waste stream and so reduce waste disposal costs. They comprise:
• Pets and pet equipment retailer Pets at Home: a two year contract for all 230 retail stores as well as its main distribution centre in Stoke;
• Health and fitness chain Esporta Health Clubs: a three year contract for Esporta’s 50 sites;
• Liberty Living: over 35 sites operated by the student accommodation provider.
• Principal Hayley Hotels: 18 hotels across the UK;
• Grafton Merchanting GB: total waste management for Grafton’s 19 brands that include national builders and plumbers merchants.
Greenstar OWM managing director Bob Barltrop said that despite the recession, there is clear evidence that Britain’s businesses are prepared to invest in effective waste management that helps raise performance and drive down costs.
He explained: “Stakeholder expectations and environmental performance requirements, including regulation, mean businesses have to take waste seriously. Greenstar’s approach helps them cut waste and costs by extracting more recyclables from waste streams. We achieve this principally through careful service planning, on site communication, and by using commingled collection systems that make it much easier for staff to recycle production and office materials.”
Barltrop has overseen a major restructuring of the OWM division, bringing together a team dedicated to identifying and securing new business.
Commenting on the restructure, Barltrop said the continuing pitch hit rate by OWM provides ‘cast iron evidence that all the thinking, planning and action has been very worthwhile’, adding ‘with nearly £20 million of prospective new business in the sales pipeline, we’re powering ahead. Businesses like what we have to say. More importantly, they like what we do.”
