Greenstar acquires Network Waste Solutions

Greenstar are pleased to announce the acquisition of Network Waste Solutions (NWS) The acquisition of NWS is part of Greenstar’s five-year strategic plan, and further cements Greenstar’s commitment and position as the leading recycling-led waste management company in the UK.

This key milestone will further enhance Greenstar’s capabilities and the services it currently provides to its customers.  Managing Director Ian Wakelin explains, “The UK waste management industry is ever evolving, in the last few months for example, Gordon Brown outlined a proposed increase in landfill tax from £24 pound per tonne to £32 as of April 2008. Combine this with the new pre-treatment regulation that comes into effect in October of this year, the management of waste and the development of recycling initiatives has never been so paramount.”

Wakelin continues, “Organisations are looking to a long term partner that not only ensures they stay legally compliant, but in addition helps minimise cost by diverting waste to landfill with the implementation of bespoke recycling strategies and initiatives, something we at Greenstar pride ourselves upon.” Kings Lynn based NWS, provide total waste management and recycling solutions to the commercial and industrial markets, offering national coverage.  To complement its waste management offering, NWS offer a national skip service that extends into the domestic market.  This service offering can be utilised through, either NWS’ online ordering system or via the phone.

With an accumulation of some twenty years experience within the business, the success of NWS is attributed to its focus and belief in customer care.

“NWS is a similar operation to Greenstar, in both its operation and its ethos.” Operations Director, Matt Hutton explains.  “Customer care and the successful delivery of service are at the forefront of their business objectives.  This acquisition will further cement our national geographical coverage servicing commercial, industrial and the domestic markets providing us enhanced economies of scale.  As a result, the increased infrastructure and resource management will benefit both our own customer base and the existing NWS clients alike.”

The NWS portfolio also boasts a comprehensive presence and service offering within the construction industry.  The nature of the construction industry means demand on suppliers is high. Hutton continues, “having the ability to deliver quality service at a moments notice, is paramount to the success of a waste management business.  This is high-lighted especially in the construction industry.  The pressure of their operation means they require a supplier they can rely on to ensure they meet their own tight deadlines.  NWS’ presence within this industry demonstrates the company’s ability to not only meet these demands but exceed them.”

The integration of the two organisations will further strengthen Greenstar’s position as the leading recycling-led waste management company.   This continued growth and commitment to delivering first class customer service will benefit Greenstar’s existing and future clients.
